I think they’re talking about immitation meat, not tofu…
I’m sorry what? Plex has ads???
Very fucking glad I just ignored it and went with jellyfin…
This isn’t minimal publicity, minimal publicity is what they got when they directly targeted fossil fuels by blocking the supply lines.

They do it because the stuff you’re asking for doesn’t work that well, but this does (that said they do still engage in those actions as far as I’m aware). Activism is about making noise, there aren’t many tools beyond that and they’ve worked for all sorts of issues in the past.
The point is that JSO doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

Yeah, appreciating the moment is the best wish ever.
That’s true, this appears to be a light rail crossing. But then again that’s a pretty large station for just light rail so I’m not sure.
Where I live there are generally no gates for light rail but there are for all pedestrian crossings over ordinary train tracks, which honestly just makes me think we probably should be installing more safety measures for light rail.
I assume this is the “small government” party doing this?
(I’m not an American)
If I don’t have a bottle of water next to me, I won’t drink water. If I do have a bottle of water next to me, I’ll get distracted by it constantly and drink so much that I’m going to the bathroom every 5 minutes
What a fantastic read, thanks for posting this!
Damn I just spoon peanut butter into my mouth lol
Hell yeah!
Good luck and have fun!
I don’t have any written recipes I’m afraid, I’ve been making them up as I go.
I usually use that combination for a ramen base. I used dried shitake and soak them in a ton of water overnight in the fridge. The dried shitake are honestly kinda inedible even after being rehydrated so I don’t always use them afterwards. I should also soak Kombu but I keep forgetting to buy it.
If you mix that broth with the right amount of miso paste then you’ll get the amazing combination of msg and nucleotides that gives you some amazing flavours. Soy sauce helps too, some garlic, ginger and sesame oil make it perfect.
Good luck working out ratios because I just guess everytime based on the size of my bowls 😅
Children came to support a peaceful rally, they weren’t in danger until the police showed up.
There are many young people who care about things and want to help, many are refugees themselves and have just as much of a right to be there as anyone else. People are there to share stories, raise money for relief funds and to show our goddamn solidarity for people being murdered in their homes.
These rallies have been running for months now and no one at them has caused any issues, but the cops sure fucking have.
Yes, it was completely peaceful as it has been for the past 30 something weeks that these rallies have been held.
If you’ve ever been to a demonstration you’d understand that all the police do is show up and cause violence. No one needed protecting from us, we walked down a goddamn street. Last time I checked that wasn’t exactly a violent act. But people sure needed protecting from the police…
Wow, what an awful thing to assume. No, we listened to people talk about losing their families and the villages they grew up in.
No one was violent, no one called for violence and there was nothing for the police to stop. We walked through a street and then stood still peacefully.
I was at a peaceful rally a week ago, police showed up and acted as intimidating as possible. We stood around and listened to some very powerful speeches from Palestinians, the police left momentarily so that they could come and assualt the crowd from the side.
They pepper sprayed children. Fuck every cop who ever did their job.
That’s certainly the hope, but I don’t think that’s the way it’s going so far. The little I’ve read about it suggests it’s going to use a considerable amount of energy, there’s probably going to be a lot of research on the environmental impact. Other considerations include water usage, raw materials and waste, and at this stage it’s too early to say what those are going to be like.
I’m honestly not keen on just hoping it’ll work out, especially when capitalism is involved. It’ll be great if it does and I’m legitimately hoping for that, but there isn’t a great track record with this kind of stuff. Especially with the meat industry basically funding laws to stop it from being available in the first place.
I guess I’m worried about it being another failed magic bullet, and I’m just sitting here completely fine without it.
Fake meat has more of an appeal to me than lab grown meat, or it used to. It was kinda interesting when they were unique flavours marketed as alternatives rather than accurate immitations.
Honestly the food science is one of my favourite things about being vegan, I can cook way more interesting meals than I could as a carnist because I’d just use meat as the main flavour which works but it’s kinda lazy. Let me make something with a little miso and shitake broth and you’ll be in love
That’s basically the case, Labor recently (as in this last week) approved new fossil fuel extraction projects to open in fucking the 2060s and 2080s… (We are meant to be at zero emissions by 2050)
They’re also giving out an ungodly amount of subsidies to fossil fuel companies, to the tune of $14.5 Billion
The climate activism group I’m with arranged a bunch of snap protests around Melbourne at Labor offices. The one federal member who came out to talk to us basically just tried to distract from all of this with the increase in renewables spending, but she also implied that hey had to keep opening new projects like this because of the money…
