Hopefully he just want to watch a movie as a pretext bc this shit is quirky. I got a second hand projector with some dead pixels and an HDMI snaking across the room to my laptop that plugs into a little dinky USB speaker I got at a recycling center for free that is plugged into a double jack behind my comfy chair.
Also I got no Netflix or nothing just a Plex my friend put up. Inshallah he likes the weird Almodovar movie I got my pal to put on there, or its just pretext how I said.
I’m dying laughing over the idea of heading over to a new platonic friend’s house to innocently watch a movie together, and arriving to like this type of setup and the only movie option is the spanish language copy of La piel que habito with no subtitles, and the space is almost conspicuously set up for a hookup with like a mattress directly on the floor.
I hope your date goes well and the comedy scenario I cooked up isn’t what happens.
lmao my place is a bit more comfy than that but you on the money; my couch is a pullout too and its actually more comfy to watch movies that way. A small step up from mattress on the floor, but a huge step for broke homo-kind.
If you have a library card you probably have access to Kanopy, a free streaming site. Lots of great titles on there. (Lots of shit too lmao you have to sift through it - tons of classic films, international and documentaries if you look for them.)

with my first gf we had to watch shit on an xbox 360 connected to a maybe 20" PC monitor, they sat on milk crates, and the sound was hooked up to a boombox/stereo thing with an Aux cable.
