    centrists, sure. but there are a lot of rank-and-file dem believers that seem to never interrogate the cognitive dissonance of loving obama, carter, etc. while despising kissinger or bush because they’re ‘war criminals’

    which makes these turbolib posts like OP about ‘y’all love lbj/obama/etc., curious’ fucking great because they force those that hold that contradiction to confront it, and my hunch is the majority who do will not come to the conclusion, ‘kissinger was good, actually’

      What I find is you tend to get a lot of rationalizations that come down to, war crimes are a problem if they’re done in the uncouth way arguments. It’s all about procedure and proper filing not being respected.

        absolutely, I’ll add that that’s more true for obomber and less true for carter

        with carter it’s usually sheer ignorance/forgotten which is easier to address. support for suharto, south africa+rhodesia, the mujahadeen, etc. are pretty easy to go to
